Aluminium in Shungite

Shungite is a complex rock that emerged from a mixture of various elements millions of years ago. It consists for the most part of carbon, which proportion varies depending on the category and quality of the stone. In addition to carbon, there are also many other chemical elements and compounds that we have identified in several studies. The detailed results are given on this page below.

We often receive calls and emails from shungite users concerned about the supposedly high aluminium content. On this account, you can find various information on the Internet that shungite stone should contain up to 4% aluminium.

We take our customer concerns seriously, and of course, it is very important to us that our product does not pose any risk.

Although aluminium is very common and can be found in almost all foods, personal care products and water, it is important not to consume too much of it. For this reason, we have performed the study on the aluminium content in water treated with our shungite stones in an independent laboratory.

Here you can see the results of the study.

It is seen that the aluminium content in shungite water is much lower than the limit value established by the Decree on drinking water.

The analyses of the stone also show a significantly lower aluminium content than 4%. Depending on the type of shungite, the percent of aluminium in our study ranges from 0.2 to 1.0%. Even if this percentage is quite high, it means that the entire mass of the stone has this proportion of aluminium. However, in most cases only the surface of the stone is used, so the aluminium in the stone is not dangerous. Nevertheless, we do not recommend taking it orally, for example in powder form, while there is little empirical data on its action or information on possible side effects.
